BLUFF NARRATIVE
In September 2006, this commissioned series of 9 – 5’1” x 5’1” kinetic paintings was exhibited at sunset in South Haven, MI. Suspended from trees on a path leading out to a 100’ bluff overlooking Lake Michigan the paintings were lit with natural sunlight and as darkness settled lit from below with torches. As the series was forming, nature influenced the way I painted (very loosely) and the materials used (exterior house paint). Sunset provided natural color enhancements to the black and white compositions.
The idea behind the series was an exploration of the natural progression of a relationship – any relationship formed between people or objects – and the loss of that relationship.
