RECLINING NUDES EXHIBIT
The reclining nude is a classic composition in the world of art. In 2004 and 2005 I completed this series of 19 – 4’x6’ paintings. The first painting titled, Before Sunrise, launched the series. It was my goal to have a large enough series to present the nude as a landscape, victim, or the dominant. The series as a whole tells stories of broken bones, discarded parts, rising sun, fish, and dense fog – all together the series is a story of life.
In 2005 and 2006 the series of Reclining Nudes was exhibited in Chicago and New York City. Since then the series has broken up through sales and gifts. I’ve recently started painting over the remaining Reclining Nudes – this process has given me the opportunity to seal the past.
